My system is a P4 3.2 (640) (2mb L2), 2 GB DDR400, 7800 GT with 256mb ddr3, 500gb hd's, Dual DVD Writers, LAN, Modem etc.

I bought this rig about 2 years ago. Still works perfectly but was wondering if I should seel it and get a quad core dd3 etc. My usage is some games, net, office etc.. This runs it fine but I see all this shiny new hardware and yum... ;)

Opnions ??

Btw what do you think this system would be worth now ?? It's mint condition.

Why the hell would you sell it? That is still nearly state of the art.
You wont do much better with a new rig.

If you plan on going with DDR3 system ram I suggest you wait about 6 months. DDR3 is 3 times as expensive as DDR2 right now and only gives a 5% increase in performance. By then the next gen video cards will be out that will do a better job with DX10 too as well as the new Intel cpus. If you want to go with a new puter now make sure you get the new SLACR version of the Q6600 quad with the G0 stepping instead of the SL9UM. The new SLACR runs cooler and uses let power at throttle down.

I would keep the system and upgrade your video card. Nvidia came out with some nice new GeForce cards. This will make your games run better. The quad core is not going to do you much good unless you run a program that is specifically programmed for 4 CPUs.

i wouldn't go for a quad yet man duel core extreme still outperforms a quad id sell it and use the money to make my own trust me man it's just better then buying one from like best buy for example if you buy your own parts it ends being up cheaper and you know how good the quality of the parts are that are in it just trust me.

I would keep the unit and upgrade the memory to at least 2gb and the hard drive to as big a one as you can afford. Memory prices are cheap right now so it would be more cost effective to upgrade

That system actually sounds better than my "new" one. You could probably get about 350 to 400 dollars for it.

I suggest you sell that Desktop for 150 and by yourself a new computer or laptop.
