I want to increase my RAM from 512MB to 1024MB. I would like to have a go at doing this myself. Can you help or direct me to a thorough UK website to follow.

I have a Medion PC. It has two Samsung DDR-SDRAM PC-2100 (133 MHz) "cards" as advised by the PC Wizard 2007 software. Size - 256 MB (1 rows, 4 banks) x 2.

What do I exactly need to ask for to increase to 1024MB and which website would you recommend that I purchase from.

I just installed a slave hard drive into my computer, and it won't boot up. It gets stuck on that self test screen. When I take the slave drive out, the computer boots fine. When I make the slave drive the master, it almost boots up but gets stuck on the screen asking if i want to run windows normally or in safe mode.

the slave drive and the original drive both have windows xp on them. I can't reformat the slave drive because I need the information on it.

The jumpers on the drives are also correct. The slave drive worked fine in another computer but I changed the RAM in it and now nothing happens, the monitor doesnt even respond to it. Is there any way I can get this drive to work?

Abit Socket 939 mobo (AV8) was AMD Athlon 64 processor with 1Gb of RAM.
Same mobo but changed processor to AMD Athon 64X2 and increased RAM to 2GB. Upgraded BIOS to accept dual core.
I don't see any change in performance. What can I reasonably expect for my efforts?

Or did I just move the bottleneck to the CPU? At some point getting a better video card does not mean anything because the game is CPU bound. Should I get a cheaper video card because my CPU is so old and can't really push the video card?

eMachines T3506
Intel Celeron D Processor 352
3.20GHz
553 MHz FSB
512 KB L2 Cache

Video
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 with available PCI-express slot

Hard Drive (not so important - its enough for me)
120GB

Memory
880MB DDR SDRAM (its supposed to be one gig but its shared)

Video Memory
128MB I guess...

I was planning to upgrade to a 400-500 Watt Power Supply (max) and then to a video card from nVidia. If i did this, i would have full 1GIG RAM and video memory not shared. RIght now i know my video card sucks, and my processor is not the best but its all i can have for the next 2 years...

1. Is it worth upgrading?
2. Is the Celeron D processor that bad?
3. If i upgraded video card and power supply, could my computer be better for things like gaming, etc.?
4. Is it hard to switch power supplies?

when booting up, inside the Sata RAID BIOS show this "The number of disks is not adequate to create a RAID!!!" now i using a IDE hard drive and i just wan to add on a SATA hardrive, but it fail to perform and got me the error as above mention. Inside the BIOS there is no SATA device found too. Even i took out my IDE hard drive, and only let the SATA harddisk run alone, it also happen to be the same. My BIOS don't have option to disabled the RAID function too.

Ok so its a Visiontek x1300 512MB card. Installed onto a MSI RX480 Neo2 Motherboard, and vista home premium 32bit. All of my Catalyst drivers are up to date. But.... After a while the screen freezes completely and I have to hold to power button to shut it off. I uninstalled catalyst and it still did it. So I reinstalled catalyst and it still does it, and every once in a while I get the blue screen of death. Then on restart windows tells me it was an error with my ati driver. WTF!! I'm about ready to go buy a monster HD 2600XT card. That should fix it hu?

When I purchased a sound card (the cheapest one in the store) for my old 486 a dozen years ago, it could simultaneously playback while recording and record multiple input and the same time. That was very good for mixing music. But the 5 computers I purchased since, none of them can do any of that. Recording is limited to 1 line of input at a time and it can't record what the computer is playing. Is it because the better kinds of sound cards just went high end or is it some kind of music biz copyright conspiracy with hardware companies?
