i am using speed fan and its showing under temperature two cores, core 0 and core 1 at around 180 Farenheit. is that too hot for my laptop? what should my temperature be around? and would a laptop cooler bring the temperature down to the temperature it should be at?

Right now - my ibook is 133 Farenheit

It never really gets above 145

Cooler never hurts - here's one way to cool it: try a laptop cooling pad

I think the temp really depends on how powerful the CPU is

From what I know processors should be around 40-52C depending on what your doing. Now later processors might be able to go a little higher then that but 60C is what you want to stay under from what I hear. Well this is for desktops but I think its the same for laptops.

Well George_Wolfe the cooler a CPU the better it runs and the longer it lasts.

My dual core CPU sits at 25C with liquid cooling and increases too 35-42 during peak gaming.
But back when I used fan cooling it was normally around 40-50C when gaming.

No man 82 degrees C is WAY too hot for a processor for the post under mine. Something really bad would happen. Maybe 82F? I do not know my F at all. Only C

I just did some quick research and it seems that perhaps CPUs can with stand much more then I though this website might not be correct but if it is you may be in the ok. But I have never seen a CPU reach over 60C. Only once or twice have I seen a CPU reach 60C normally 55C is very high and rarely do I see it.

But here is the site

Man I am happy now my CPU on my current PCs CPU has never been over 43C and that was running Elder scrolls 4 oblivion on maxed setting for like 2 hours in a hot room in the summer.
Liquid cooling pays off.

Hi. 180 is too hot. Check for good ventilation and proper fan operation, maybe try in a cooler room with A/C. 82 C is just about at the limit. Blow out any dust accumulation also.
