I want to increase my RAM from 512MB to 1024MB. I would like to have a go at doing this myself. Can you help or direct me to a thorough UK website to follow.

I have a Medion PC. It has two Samsung DDR-SDRAM PC-2100 (133 MHz) "cards" as advised by the PC Wizard 2007 software. Size - 256 MB (1 rows, 4 banks) x 2.

What do I exactly need to ask for to increase to 1024MB and which website would you recommend that I purchase from.

Go to the following link, http://www.crucial.com/uk they can do an on line check which will determine which ram your motherboard supports. They will recommend the optimum amount. You can order on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for good ram. They guarantee compatibility with your motherboard and give an excellent warranty. They lso give fitting instructions. I have used them many times and always been satisfied. Hope this helps.

If you have 2 more empty slots, just add two more of the same size, 256mb PC-2100 or ddr266 DIMM (184 pins).

If there are no empty slots, replace your current ones with two 512mb PC-2100 or ddr266.

If PC-2100 is hard to find, PC-2700 or PC-3200 will also work. If they are not supported by the motherboard, BIOS will just downclock them to PC-2100 speed.

This is an old style memory, you are better off going to a local system builder or computer shop. You may not even be able to go that high if your board doesnt support it!
