I would like to know if a AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual-Core be inserted into a socket 939? Thanks

only if it supports the socket 939 if it's built for am2 it wont work and ull damage the chip do NOT attempt.

Each individual CPU will tell you (that is, the box should tell you) what kind of socket it is supposed to go into. I have an Athlon 64 X2 in a socket 939, but it varies from chip to chip. Get the specific chip model and go to amd.com.

I would never advise anyone to do anything to their computer, but that is the system I have. It works for me.
