I have a 1998 NEC computer that doesn't have a CD rom. I had my brother try and transfer files from this computer to our new one. He tried using several things, including a memory stick, IPOD, transferring files onto a disk, and then something used for transferring files...all to no avail. The old computer didn't recognize any of these things. Do you have any ideas on how to transfer a Word file from our old computer to our new?

I have a Dell 9150 that came with a nvidia 6800 PCI-e graphics card, i would like to update this to a 512mb nvidia 7950GT PCI-e but i am unsure if i can just swap them or if i need to check any further specs of my computer (i know some cards require additional power supplies) - what should i be looking for?

I installed it a few weeks back, but when i went to my computer, it wasnt there. I went to the control panel, and used the "Add Hardware". But it was already there. I went to the Device Manager, and saw that it wanst "intialized". How do i activate it? How do i use it in my computer?

I have used this card for a couple of months and I tell you, my Savage4 is much more better than the piece of worthless crap. X1600 Pro can't even run OpenGL and D3D games on my PC!
Hell, even simple Direct X 2D -games will lock up!! Either it will lock up and it will run at very low frame rate. Tried reinstalling windows xp and directx but seems nothing is improved. What can be done to make my card play games?? Please help anyone!

right now i have 2 512 sticks. one is pc3200 the other is pc2100. i have a GIGABYTE GA-K8NF-9 Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128268) how do i know what kind of ram to get? i would like add an extra gig. how many pins? does it have to be 2 512 sticks or can it be a 1gig stick?

How long does it take to defragment a C:/ Drive and does it work well?

Ive had this comp for about a year and never done it.

Building a pc for my brother for xmas, and at this point I have everything unhooked except the board and psu. It powers on, the monitor totally doesnt see it, as if its hibernating, and after about five minutes the thing just shuts off. New psu, and the board worked fine in a previous computer.I also tried another psu for kicks and same result. About an hour ago the monitor was coming on and a few minutes into installing windows it kicked off and has been doing this ever since. Any off the wall ideas besides my board decided to crap out?

My system is Intel 3.0 Overclocked 3.3 2X PC2100 512 DDR Ram 1 Gig Ram. 160Gig Drive 8MB Buffer. AGP 5200 256 RAM. Powersupply 300Watts. Can't play Oblivion mouse moves real slow. Can't play Star Trek Legacy mouse moves real slow. My Upgrade is get rid of the memory get 2X PC3200 1 Gig Each. Buy 500 Watt Power Supply. Now to the Video card. A 6800 or 7800? Any ideas? Will my PC run OBLIVION with this new upgrade?

Ive been lookin to get a new computer and ever since Ive leanred more of the computer anatomy Ive been confident enough to go with some custom computers which I thin kwould be cheaper in a sense and give me exactly what I want. Anyways I dont know much about Processors excep tthat little number that tails after its name (e.g. 2.2 ghz) anyways Ive found to see more and mroe of these dual core processors that offer I guess two processors that interact? (e.g. it says somehting liek 2 x 1.83 ghz)
Anyways I was wondering is this really better? Would it be equivalent to if you mutliplied those numbers? Is it better to have two smaller processors liek this instead of one strong one?
What are the advatages and disadvatages of having a dual core processor versus just a normal one?

i have reset the bios changed hard drives memory it stays no matter what it is microsoft virtial drive it is in bios the more ram i put it gets bigger i just want it gone and it will not go away
