right now i have 2 512 sticks. one is pc3200 the other is pc2100. i have a GIGABYTE GA-K8NF-9 Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128268) how do i know what kind of ram to get? i would like add an extra gig. how many pins? does it have to be 2 512 sticks or can it be a 1gig stick?

well it depends on how much you want to spend. The cheapest route to go would be to purchase an addition 2 512MB sticks of pc3200. However, You could simply go with a Gig stick, but gig sticks tend to be more expensive.

The next problem you have is with the pc2100 chip. This single chip slows down the rest of your chips. effectively all the pc3200 chips are running at pc2100 speed. So I'd suggest replacing the pc2100 chip with a pc3200 chip. But if you don't, life will still go on, and you'll still have the benefits of the additional ram.

it dont extremely count number what variety that's basically make confident you get like the ceremony length to in fantastic condition your motherboard socket and in case you getting 512mb you need to get 2 of the sticks of ram because 512mb wont get you many extra p.c. or a lot extra memory i recommend that's going to coach a diference yet basically save the former ram and put in the hot ram desire i helped

You will need DDR 400 (PC 3200) ram. Thats 184 pin. You can buy 1 gig, but 2X512 should be a bit faster as it will be in dual channel. You do need identical sticks of ram for dual channel.

plz get hynix ram ddr it is better for intel based pc's
