With the RAM upgrades this SHOULD be enough to run Oblivion. I have been playing it w/ no problems on a P4 2Gh Duo Core w/ 1GB RAM and a 256Mb Video card. It is a very graphics intensive game though. It has been known to cause problems on occasion on even some really nice machines. But your upgrades in RAM SHOULD make a BIG difference. If it still causes you problems turn down some of the video option, this should help out to.

Go to crucial.com and they can recommend memory with their automated system after it scans your PC. You possibly may be able to buy 1GB of PC3200 and add it to your existing memory. I only say that because I had PC2100 and added 1GB of PC2700 upon their recommendation. Micron is an American company that manufactures memory. They sell direct to the public through crucial.com. It costs about half of what memory costs at Office Max.
