PC shuts off after five minutes and gives no image on the monitor.?

Question

Building a pc for my brother for xmas, and at this point I have everything unhooked except the board and psu. It powers on, the monitor totally doesnt see it, as if its hibernating, and after about five minutes the thing just shuts off. New psu, and the board worked fine in a previous computer.I also tried another psu for kicks and same result. About an hour ago the monitor was coming on and a few minutes into installing windows it kicked off and has been doing this ever since. Any off the wall ideas besides my board decided to crap out?

I will also add there there are two extra cooling fans working fine in the case, and nothing seems too hot or to be overheating.

Processor fan has been cleaned to the fullest, also.

Tried another monitor, same issue. Cannot check the temps if monitor wont show images...and even when hd is hooked up it shuts off still.

Maybe there is something wrong with the monitor. Have you tried using another one just for kicks?

if everything is disconnected then the board might be auto-shutting off, because theres nothing to boot from.
Check the BIOS settings for an shutdown temp.

For example, if the computer gets too hot it will auto-shutdown. It might be set a too low a temp, like 30-40C?

There are two things that may have gone wrong-
1)check your RAM ones again
2)if the first doesnt work then open the processor fan and clean it up.Often it happens because of dirt which sticks on the processor and overheats it.

i too had the same problem some time ago.....cleaning my processor fan worked for me........
