do u hear any sound while powring it up or it wont power at all sending for recovery is non sense.. cuz its costly besides its a bottom end of memory hierarchy so thats why we keep back ups in case of damage throw it away n get a new one ima afraid the arm in side between the platters the one that move to read fomr the surface(where data is located might be broken).

so it depends if there is a sound.. u might try putting it as a slave n see if u can boot it up u might get a chance to recover some or fix th bad sectors..

they say if a single microscopic dust goes inside the hard disk (while running) it will scratch the surface of the HD n the scratching will creat more dusts so its a never ending damage ..i hope that not your case..

cuz i have a HD in my shelf i didint have the time to figure wuts wrong with it..

This is an old, old trick. If you've got a HDD that won't spin up, wrap it in a water proof bag and place it in a freezer for a couple of hours or so. If it's able to restart when you reattach it to power this may help. It's very likely that you've damaged the PCB that is the "controller" for the disk.

Send it off to a recovery service such as On Track. Be prepared for a HUGE bill, though. Four figures if they don't have to open the case, and 5 if they have to open it in a clean room.

Probably not anything you can do. It will have to be a pro to fix that and recover the data.

Ontrack data recovery (www.ontrack.com).

Send the drive in and they will recover data for you. It isn't cheap.
