I have been unable to find a disk defragmentation tool in Mac OSX like there is in Windows. Does this mean the hard drives used in a Macintosh do not fragment? Or if they do, how does Mac OSX deal with the issue differently from Windows?

I uninstalled my CD writer by mistake, i tried removing it and plugging it again to see if windows detects it, but no it didnt. I tried reinstalling my OS but it says that there is some problem with my hard drive or hard drive controller. I really need help

after running win XP in cdrom, formatting takes place. but after copying files my pc restarted and this appears in the screen:

Remove disks or other media, Press any key to restart
BOOT from ATAPI CD-ROM: Failure...
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

AFTER I PRESS ENTER SAME MESSAGE APPEAR

wHAT SHOULD I DO? THANKS

I have 1GB pen drive. I want to partition that pen drive as two say I: and J: One partition should be 512 MB formatted with FAT32 file systems. The remaining space should be farmatted with FAT or NTFS file system. Is it possible? If so how can I do that? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Any error messges? POST code beeps? Does it boot into windows or start to boot? What are the processor temps in BIOS?

No error messages, no beeps at all,. it doesnt have windows installed yet. I cannot get into bios because it shuts down before that.
