First run disk cleanup. Select everying except compress old files and office setup files. Go to the more optins tab and click Delete all but the most resent restore point .

Then go to internet explore go to tools- options then click delete temporary internet files.

Next if u are an advanced user go to C:\Documents and Settings\( insert user here )\Local Settings\Temp. Delete all the files in there. (Do not delete theTemporary Internet Files and History folder).

Now go to Control Panel the to Add\Remove Programs and remove the programs tha u dont need.

After doing all this , run disk defragmenter. This should boost your hard drive's performance also

If you get this warning it's better if you find out what is going on instead of getting rid of everything possible . Go to my Computer and check what size hard drive you have installed . If you have one that is small it's easy to overload it . Also go to system information. This will give you a readout of all you have in your Pc . Check your Memory . It also might be very small . You should have at least 512mgb . . As for the hard drive you should have at least 40 gig or much more . If you dont have a hard drive of decent size I suggest changing to a larger on .

If you still get the message, disable the notification, right click on your C: drive, click properties, uncheck "Warn me when disk space becomes low..."

Remove all tmp files, remove everything in the Win\temp directory. If you are using Norton and have the norton protected recycle bin - clear that out. Look for pictures, movies, etc and copy them to CD or DVD then delete them.

I like the below linked cleanup program, also did you uninstall any programs you dont need, if you just add a hard drive, you can allways uninstall the larger programs then reinstall them on the new drive
