If you want very minimal informtion, then right click the My Computer icon and click Properties.
Otherwise, if you are looking for some detailed information, then, open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del ->Task Manager and click on the Performance Tab.
If you are still not very impressed then, download "Everest Free Edition" from
"http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html". Install the application and run it. On the left pane, click on Motherboard and then click on memory. Detailed information about memory is available in the right pane.

If you hold down the windows key and press 'pause', system properties will open, displaying how much RAM the system has, if you do not have a video card it will take the amount of RAM down to share for the video. You could also find out from the BIOS setup by pressing F2, F11 or DEL on system startup. (BIOS setup button is different on some machines)
