It worked last night and all, and now when i click the volume control, a box comes up and says

There are no active mixer devices available. To instal mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click prints and other hardware, and then click Add Hardware.
This program will now close

I tried going to Adjust Audio Properties and it doesn't seem to let me click anything.

The speakers are plugged in, and on.

I've also tried to push the mute button on my keyboard but nothing happens and it just stays muted.

Any idea whats goin on?..
Whats your adive of me trying to do?

I havn't installed anything new and it's been working just fine. I woke up this morning, turned on my computer, tried to play a game and it appeared. I ran disk check and it seemed to fix the problem but it happened again. Can I do anything? Are there any programs to fix it?

My current bootable HD is starting to get some bad spots on it and only boots about 75% of the time. I have an extra HD bay that I would like to put a new drive in and mirror the old one. Is there a way to do this, so that it will copy over all the files (including boot, system and hidden files) and I can swap out the new, mirrored drive for the old, bad one?

My emachines computer that is at least 5 years old is always freezing. I constantly am doing disk cleanups and defragging. Also running virus scans with Norton Antivirus. I mean by selecting 'remove device' and making it safe to remove before you take it out. At my school you don't have the administrative authority to do that, so you just pull it out. I always do it now at home as well and I've never had any problems. Have I been lucky or is there very little chance of it causing problems?

This is not my line of expertise, and frankly I'm stumped as to where to even begin looking. my current card is a radeon 9700 with 256MB ram, so the card I get needs to be a fairly large step up from this. If possible it should be able to support direct-x 10 for Vista. Most essentially it must be of the AGP8 standard (I'm feeling too cheap to buy a whole new motherboard)
