I've been told that not to remove a Flash-Drive properly runs the risk of damaging and/or deleting any information you may have stored on it. Similar damage may happen to your computer.
I got this information from a friend who knows far more about computers and such than I do.

I believe that the procedure is made to make sure there is no running transfer process. In your case, you are sure you have no running transfer process, so you remove it. I do that sometimes too, and never had any problem.

Go to My Computer, right click on your drive and select properties.
Go to the Hardware tab and select your drive and click properties.
Go to the Policy tab and select the one which disables disk caching.
Then you won't need Safely Remove at all (unless you're copying/reading at the moment)
Sometimes Windows doesn't completely write all the data at once, but keeps it to write when theres more CPU power available, so as not to slow down the computer.
Selecting that option will disable that feature.

not really. i think all that the REMOVE HARDWARE TOOL does is stop any programs currently running that are using your FLASH DRIVE. It also ensures that all your work (if you have any programs running) is saved to the FLASH DRIVE before allowing you to just pull it out and potentially lose data. But if you know that you have saved your data successfully, it shouldnt be a problem in my mind!

It depends, if your file is open or still in the process of saving then your files will stuff up. But it everything is saved and closed then you should have no problem at all.

I don't think it matters to much chap, to be honest, however i am not a cpu guru, so if i were you i would try and remember to do it as often as possible, and that when you do forget like me, it won't matter to much :)
