in XP go to My Computer....right clich the C drive and click properties then click the tools tab at the top....defrag is there. Good Luck.

Start, all programs, assesories system tools defrag. or start my computer right click your hard drive (ususally "c") click properties, tools, defrag

go to 'my computer', right click on 'c:' and select proerties then click on 'tools'. should be there with the option for error checking.
