I am a GCSE student with lots of coursework on my flash drive. Half of the really important coursework is fine but the other half is corrupt. The computer wont let me backup the corrupt files or even open them. Can I recover them?

If you oa software search on DOWNLOAD.COM then they maybe some FREE utilities available to recover certain types of data. The only thing is this software maybe FREE TRAIL ONLY, which means that you might only be able to retrieve a set amount of data without being nagged to buy the full software. Ive had the same problem as you've had- and in the same circumstances too!

What did I do- saved time and money- and started the work all over again! sometimes, there just isnt an option for erroneous files

Corrupted files on a flash drive are unusual.

Try going to "My Computer," and right clicking the flash drive. Go to properties, click the "tools" tab, and try to check the flash drive for errors if possible. You may need to restart your computer with the drive in it's port to do this.

If that doesn't work, you might try running it through some antivirus software using the "Clean" option.

Rarely, just defragmenting a drive will help, but I don't think that works for flash drives.
