Laptops & Notebooks - January 2007

looking for an awesome laptop I stumbled across two processors, the AMD turion 64 tl- 60 (2.0 ghz) and the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0 GHz) and a lower Intel model which is slightly slower and cheaper of 1.8 ghz.

With past experienses with both of them I found AMD to be faster, but I have no experienses on labtops. Too me the price isn't that big of a factor, which one should I get if the intel 1.8 ghz and the AMD 2.0ghz for laptops are the same price with the Intel 2.0ghz costing an extra 300 bucks?

Start button not working (pegs are bent). Is there a way to either find a button and corresponding parts online or start the machine without having to press the start button?

hi bought a laptop last saturday from comet and everytime i play media while running other programs or even without running other programs the music will sometimes skip and make a sort of whirring sound and then start playing again...
i have around 30 gb taken up on a 120 hard drive
my processor speed is 1.6ghz
my processor is AMD turion 64x2 mobile technology
my ram is 1gb

anyone know a soloution to this problem?

It's a fairly old lap top, (Compaq Armada E500). Has been working fine till now, though. I thought it might be the (left) button, but the sensor pad doesn't work for "double tapping" either. I changed my settings to "left" b/c the left button still responds... Oh, I recently started using a wireless mouse with it if that has anything to do with it....??? PLEASE HELP! The wireless mouse is fine for home, but it wont fit on those little fold out desks at college!!

I recently started getting the following error when trying to run a game on my laptop: DirectX has reported you do not have enough Virtual Memory to run this game. The game used to run fine. I have 2 GB of RAM and this is a Dell 600 (2GHz). I don't have much else running either. I'm assuming I can change a setting somewhere to set aside more virtual memory. Any ideas?

I used CPUz to check my core speed, and found out that in normal condition (without loading anything), it runs with 1/2 speed. Today, after months i use CPUz to check again, the core speed increases to full speed in the same condition (without loading). I wonder what happened and how could it affect my computer. I don't think my comp got virus, but. . . i don't know!! please help me out.

im trying to plug in my xbox into my laptop so i can use xbox live...my laptop has a wireless internet and all i should have to do is run my ethernet cord from the back of my xbox to the port int he laptop..however the computer doesnt recognize the port at all and no connection will be made...do i just have a bad drive in my laptop...i know its not the cord cuz i use it from a pc all the time... btu for some reason wont work when coming into my laptop. whats should ido

The LCD screen is broken because it was dropped and it will not work with an external screen. I think the video card might be bad.
The laptop is a Toshiba M105-S3041 Laptop Intel Core Solo 1.86GHz. If you know anything else about this computer then let me know. I can get a really good deal on this computer if I buy it with the broken screen and fix it myself. Thanks!

i have no sound on my notebook as i asked before but no good response. theres no audio device but it says everythings working properly and in device manager and theres the exclamation point next to the pci device. its only been a month since ive got this labtop and i don't have the cd to install the device its a dell inspiron e1505. can anyone care to help how i can reinstall the pci device or bring my sound back..=[ ive tried driverguide but they didn't seem much of a help at all .. i can't listen to music watch videos and multimedia...=[
