Everything gets a bit silly after the kb.
Everyone agrees that 1kilobyte = 1024bytes
This is because 2 to the power of 10 is 1024 and back in the olden days everything was related to powers of 2 because that's how binary works and it's more intuitive in terms of bits.

Conventionally then, there should be 1024kb to 1Mb because it is supposed to go in increments of 2 to the power of 10, but some people (and some companies) quote 1Mb = 1000kb.

So watch your behind!
Cheers.

In binary there are:

1111111111 bytes in a Kb which is 1,024 bytes

1111111111 Kb in a Mb which is 1,024 Kb

This makes

11111111111111111111 bytes in a Mb or 1,048,576 bytes

Same goes for a Gb, this is:

111111111111111111111111111111 bytes or 1,073,741,824 bytes.

This is why when you get a 100Gb harddisk from a manufacturer, you actually get 93.13Gb upon formatting, because the manufacturer sells it to you as 1Gb = 1,000,000,000 bytes, whereas the computer measures it correctly.

100,000,000,000/1,073,741,824 is the real amount of Gigabytage you really get.

Of course you don't really lose anything because you think you're being sold 100,000,000,000 bytes of space...and you are!

1000 Bytes = 1 KB
1000 Kb = 1 MB
1000 MB = 1 GB

There are 8 bits to a byte. 1024 kilo bytes to a mega byte and 1024 mega bytes to a giga byte.
