im trying to plug in my xbox into my laptop so i can use xbox live...my laptop has a wireless internet and all i should have to do is run my ethernet cord from the back of my xbox to the port int he laptop..however the computer doesnt recognize the port at all and no connection will be made...do i just have a bad drive in my laptop...i know its not the cord cuz i use it from a pc all the time... btu for some reason wont work when coming into my laptop. whats should ido

If your cable is a crossover cable and not a patch cable you may try opening the Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections, Right Click Local Area Connection, Advance, Check the box Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection. * note you may need to open ports on your firewall * Good luck.

Hello. The problem is that you are not supposed to plug your cat-5 into a computer..it is supposed to go into a dsl router. A cat-5 is supposed to go into a network connection...not something as complex as a laptop...hope i awnsered your question.....

there is no reason, NONE, why that would work. you have to plug the xbox AND the computer into a wired router/modem/hub
