It sounds like the problem might be the power saving. Windows will automatically turn off hard disks, monitors and other things. To fix this, open Control Panel, choose Classic View, Power Options and set everything on the left side (plugged in) to "Never". This means that the laptop will only try to save power if you're not plugged into the mains and you won't have the skipping while you wait for things to re-power up.

Hope this helps

Your CD/DVD drive isn't caching enough data to have continuous play. There are a few fixes.

First, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, IDE ATA Adapters, Advanced. Change all (Primary, Secondary) to DMA if available.

Next in Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices, Audio, Sound Playback, Advanced, Performance. Slide Hardware Acceleration and Sample Rate Conversion Quality to highest levels.

Save, reboot, and listen. Should be solved.

The hype is they can multitask but in reality they cannot. The problem is too many programs running at the same time. If you want to listen to music whilst working then use winamp. If you want to watch a video then just do that and all will be fine.

My only advice to you is not to touch or try changing anything because the computer is still pretty new - just take it back to where you bought it from and let them know the problem you are encountering.
