Call of Duty how can i use ip address to play the game together on our pc's?

My friend has a laptop and i have my desktop how can we use ip addresses to play the game together

Just get a CAT-5 crossover cable.

Open the control panel, network connections.
Open the Local Area Connection
Press Properties
In the scroll list, select Internet protocol (TCP/IP)
Press Properties
Select "Use the following IP Address"

Use IP Address 192.168.1.1 on your computer
Use IP Address 192.168.1.2 on your friend's computer
Use Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 on both computers
Use Default Gateway 192.168.1.2 on your computer
Use Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 on your friend's computer

Click OK
Click OK

Then you should be connected for any type of PC to PC game.

You could also use a hub or router and 2 straight CAT-5 cables instead of a crossover CAT-5 cable. This would allow you to connect more than two PCs.
