I went to a PC shop to buy a personal computer. The salesman asked me if I need 'Duo Core" or "Quad Core" cpu power? I know they are good, new CPU technologues, but which microsoft office applications need them? why should I pay a higher price for the PC as compare to one with a single core cpu?

I have a 6-cell battery (good for 2 hrs.), and I recently got a spare 12-cell battery (good for 4-5 hrs.). I typically use my 6-cell regularly, and use my 12-cell when I go out. But at home, should I leave my 12-cell (again, I use the 6-cell at home), charged, or leave it uncharged, err... discharged?

Hey, guys. Anyways, I have a very old iBook (Apple Laptop)(It's not ANCIENT but it's up there) I really like the two-finger scrolling implemented in the newer macs but this particular iBook doesn't have that feature. Is there a software application that works in the background (preferably) that will enable this feature with the mouse? Your help is MUCHO appreciated.

I don't understand how folks on EBAY can offer NEW IN BOX, not refurb, not scratch and dent notebook computers cheaper than you can get them at Dell.com. Is there a scam or trick here?

i have an ibm thinkpad 755CX. it wont start up. i have replaced the hard drive and still no luck. the battery is gone and i dont want to buy a new one because i think that they are to expensive. when i start the laptop up, the hard drive light stays on and its orange, the floppy drive light on the display panel next to where the hard drive light is, comes on and stays on, which is also orange. and one more light comes on which is orange, and the icon is a rectangular box with 4 dots on top. then the laptop makes a long beep noise, followed by short beep noise. there is nothing on the screen. its all black
is there anyway i can make the laptop run without the battery? i think the battery is the problem. how do i make my laptop work

Alright, sorry for the lame headline. Anyways, I'm looking to get a new laptop and I'm not sure if I should invest into a Mac. I'm only 16, so I like the entertainment aspects the Mac includes, but computer wise, is it just too different from the Windows operating system? Also, price is somewhat of an issue (as it always is). I'm looking to get this laptop for under $2,000. So what are the advantages and disadvantages to getting a Mac, compared to a Windows operating system?
