im currently looking to buy a macbook pro from apple, but i dont know if i should spend my money to buy the intel core 2 duo or if i should save my money and just stick w/ the core duo. is there a big difference b/w the two?

You would want the latest intel core 2 duo, as that is an update from the core duo. Basically more performance and less power. But make sure it is 64 bit too, NOT 32. It should be 64 but just in case.

not really. If you want a 64-bit operating system, though,go with the Core 2 Duo.

i would say not that much difference ... i would never buy a notebook based on processor anyway ... its the least thing to worry about with the current lineup of processors ... other specs and hardware are much more important imo ...
