I have a 6-cell battery (good for 2 hrs.), and I recently got a spare 12-cell battery (good for 4-5 hrs.). I typically use my 6-cell regularly, and use my 12-cell when I go out. But at home, should I leave my 12-cell (again, I use the 6-cell at home), charged, or leave it uncharged, err... discharged?

If you use them regularly, keep both charged (one in the laptop, one not). If you plan to put one aside for a longer period of time, discharge it first.

And when you need to swap out the dead one,
the uncharged one will be of how much use ?
