I used CPUz to check my core speed, and found out that in normal condition (without loading anything), it runs with 1/2 speed. Today, after months i use CPUz to check again, the core speed increases to full speed in the same condition (without loading). I wonder what happened and how could it affect my computer. I don't think my comp got virus, but. . . i don't know!! please help me out.

That's rite af, the first time test, it runs with 1 core, the second time after months it runs with 2 core. The manager shows everything normal, and everything is up to date!!!

Simple - check your power options. Powering on the laptop with just battery power starts only single core to reduce temperature and conserve battery power. Powering up on AC enables stronger fan speed, allowing full power operation which requires more cooling.

If you dont mind reducing battery time, crank up the power to full speed. Just be aware that battery time drops from 2 hours to about 45 minutes

Sounds like it's the dual cores. First test only one core was being used. Second time both.

From what little info I can quickly find on CPUz, it seems it test the CPU speed. Did you update it recently? What does Task Manager show when not running CPUz?

Could you e-mail me some more info on that?!? Your core speed does not change! That's like saying the size of the engine in your car gets bigger and smaller overnight. It might be under more or less strain depending on how much gas you give it, but it's still the same size engine.

I must be misunderstanding the question.
