Can do one of the following..

Have the system turn off the display after so many minutes of inactivity.

Change the screen saver to blank

Put the system into suspend.

Close the lid.

yes. use the the little icon in your lower left hand corner of the screen that is for your display. then change the power usage settings to a lower setting. this dims the screen and saves power thus giving you longer battery life. if you are plugged in to a wall outlet...unplug and the screen will dim automatically when it goes into power saver mode.
