i have a notebook with a sempron 3100 processor, whats the highest i can upgrade too and am i able to to upgrade to a turion 64 processor?

I purchased a SONY VAIO VGN-SZ110 laptop on May 31st. This morning I noticed the LCD on my screen displayed 1 vertical line that shifted colors between yellow, white, and sometimes a different shade of blue. The line would appear and disappear intermittently for about an hour. At this time, the line is no longer visible. The laptop comes with a 90 day factory warranty (parts/labor).

Can someone let me know if this is a serious problem which I should send in to SONY for service or is this a minor problem that is common on all laptops?

Someone please help. Thank you in advance.

My OS is shot and I need to re-install it but my dvd rom is shot as well. I do have a usb cd-rom that I can use but I can't figure out how to get it to boot to that usb drive.

I sure hope I can explain this clearly??

You know the mouse-type mechanism on a laptop where you merely roll your finger over the glass and it moves the cursor about? Well how comes it only works for fingers? Example, if you try and use a pen, or another object to move the cursor, it does not move. The computer only responds to people's fingers! How come?

You know how computers always slow down after a long time of use? Well, I recently (a couple months ago) completely reinstalled Windows XP on my 700 MHz Laptop (I know that it's slow but it works OKay for my purposes) and whenever I first logged in, it literally logged in 2 seconds. and it stayed like that for a long time, even after I installed my applications. It's starting to slow down again, and there is no virus or spyware or anything like that. I was wandering if there was a free or cheap (preferably 60 dollars or less) program that kind of restores the Windows XP "newness" so that it's fast again? And I really don't want to reactivate or anything. Thanks.

I am looking to transfer data (Files, music files, movies, word documents and other data from my desktop to my laptop - there is about 70gb of stuff). Could anyone tell me the best and the quickest way to do this and if possible, please try not to use too much technical jargon. I actually like the thumbpoint when I think IBM first introduced it on their Thinkpads. But lately every notebook is about the trackpad. I don't like the trackpad because it somehow forces right hand usage on me. With the thumbpoint I don't have that feeling.
