I purchased a SONY VAIO VGN-SZ110 laptop on May 31st. This morning I noticed the LCD on my screen displayed 1 vertical line that shifted colors between yellow, white, and sometimes a different shade of blue. The line would appear and disappear intermittently for about an hour. At this time, the line is no longer visible. The laptop comes with a 90 day factory warranty (parts/labor).

Can someone let me know if this is a serious problem which I should send in to SONY for service or is this a minor problem that is common on all laptops?

Someone please help. Thank you in advance.

It is a relatively "normal" problem for all LCD screens to have minor defects. I would suggest that you take it back while you still can, because it will drive you crazy otherwise. I had a stuck pixel on my LCD television, and we had to talk the guy at the store into exchanging it, because their policy (which BestBuy also told me was the policy of most computer manufacturers) is that there have to be something like 6 seperate bad pixels for them to take it back. It's considered a "normal" thing for one or two of them to be bad. Pffft I say!

It is normal for LCDs to have minor defects, most spec sheets will say 3 to 5 stuck pixels. With vertical and/or horizontal lines on a screen this new it is deffently a defect and whould be sent in for warrenty.
