disruption, cheating, rude to the teacher and students who are there to study. And even worse, it can be used to detonate an incendiary device if so programmed. They should be banned! in a classroom.
Don't you, out of plain courtesy, turn off your mobile in church, restaurant, theatre, function???? Same for classroom
Incredible how we (old folks -- i.e. 30 and over) survived without a cellphone in a classroom.
If you have a problem and need to call home, school provides for that.
Keep cellphones in lockers or cars and when you need to call home to say you are going to be late or need help, you can do so then...Otherwise, your teacher(s) will ensure --- in an emergency -- that your parents/guardians be notified.

I have had a cell phone and then broke it cause i dont want to pay for it each month. Theres the landline and if its that difficult for them to call there they can get over themselves. Students will make it the first priority to use their stupid cell phone. I see people flip it out during class to text somebody "im bored" so it takes them away from the class. Its not hard to sit in a chair for 50 minutes and get a lecture.

I am currently in High school, where i live, cell phones are not allowed to be "on" during school.
Or be in our pockets, it must be in a schoolbag/locker.
And even if they arent, how are they distracting to anyone but the cellphone user.
Let that person fail.
Who Cares about the person who is dumb enough to text during a class he/she is failing.
Let the stupid fall behind.
Survival of the Fitest at its best.
