You can't go wrong with LinkSys or D-Link. Between them, they practically own the wireless router market.
And they both come with install wizards that walk you through the setup step by step. It's impossible to mess up. I know, i tried. :-)

it shouldent much matter, try to find out how fast your laptops integrated wireless is (11mbps, 54mbps, etc). It might be on a sticker on your computer. and try to match it up with the router you get. I find linksys to make a reliable router. other than that they were really simple for me to setup, no sweat

I'm going to go with Linksys if you know nothing about computers. Theirs is the easiest to setup, the easiest to administer and works well right out of the box. Can't go wrong with a proven winner.

Any wifi router will work, you will need a wifi card for your laptop though.
