Every time I try to turn my computer off, instead of turning off automatically, the following message comes up: " It is now safe to turn off your computer" and it keeps on until I manually press hold the power button...Is there any way to override this annoying step? Please

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
NVIDIA 650i Ultra
2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320 MB

I know the motherboard is cheap but thats the only thing fitting budget. Do I get a better motherboard? Which one? If so, which component do I step down to keep the overall cost the same?

Alright, so I have a new computer with some crappy 500 watt power supply and it's loud as a goat. There's also a CPU fan (AMD 5000+.) Will replacing my power supply fix the problem or can i use the same power supply with a different power supply fan or what.

I basicly looking for the best way to quiet down my PC so I can leave it on when I sleep.

Thanks a lot

My PC is a Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 448 MB RAM. It originally had a 80 GB HDD but some months ago I added a 250 GB HDD. Now it is very slow, although the HDs don't have too many files in them - the 250 Gb (master drive) is only 25% used and the 80 GB (slave drive) is 40%. Am I asking too much of the computer? Should I increase / update its RAM? Thanx

I was thinking of buy a quad core system now for my brothers birthday wish is late august, but I feel somewhat foolish because I know the Phenom comes out in November. I don't know if it will be a week after I get the system or the end of November.

I also don't know how it will compare as far as price and as far as whether I'll be able to get it. The system I wanted to buy now would be about $1,000 with a quad core, 2GB of RAM, and a Geforce 8800gts. If I wait for the Phenom will that push not only the processor but also the motherboard cost way up when it first comes out? Plus, how much of a benefit will the new processor really be?

Is Intel Dual Core just the same with Intel Core 2 duo?

Here are my computer's specs:

Windows XP Media Center Edition
3.0ghz (Running two processors)
160GB HDD
512 MB of RAM
Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card
It has an eMachines Intel D102GGC2 Motherboard

Besides my crappy graphics card, I want to know if I add another 512 MB of RAM which of course will give me 1GB of RAM, will my computer load faster and open applications like Firefox faster? Also, I play the Sims 2 and I'm sick and tired of the loading time because it takes more than 20 mins to load or whatever. Adding more RAM, will The Sims 2 load faster?

On my "Local disk" it says 76.3GB and 56.0 on "Free Space".

The OS is Pentium, 4 CPU, 1.50 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM.

Does this information tell you pros out there whymy computer has just started running very slowly. Could it be that I am out of space? I have all the firewall and anti-virus programs installed and perform regular clean-ups and checks.

Thanks.

I need help deciding on two computers
One is this Dell computer built from the website for $850 Total (shipping and Tax included). The reasoning for the low end hardware is because it's cheaper to upgrade afterwards than it is while building it.

PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6550 (4MB L2 Cache, 2.33GHz, 1333 FSB)
OPERATING SYSTEM: Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition (will upgrade to XP Pro)
MONITOR: No Monitor
MEMORY: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 2DIMMs (Will upgrade to 4GB)
HARD DRIVE: 320GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™ (Will upgrade)
OPTICAL DRIVE: 16x DVD+/-RW Drive (Will buy addition drive later)
VIDEO CARD: Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 (Will upgrade to Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS 512MB RAM)
SOUND Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio (Will upgrade to Sound Blaster)
FLOPPY & MEDIA READER: Dell 19 in 1 Media Card Reader

The other is an HP Pavilion for $1230 Total (with tax)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

I mean, yea, Mac's are easier to use and less complicated. They get LESS viruses ("less", not "no"). But why sacrifice functionality for simplicity? I think people who think Mac's are better because the software is easier to use, are just plain mistaken. If you actually know how to use a PC, you can make stuff that will not even compare with the stuff you can do on a Mac. Also, I hate the commercials that say Mac works with stuff better than PC's. Mac's only work with Mac stuff. PC's work with everything. And the commercial that says you can install Windows on a Mac is just plain retarded. On a PC, you can install Mac programs without installing Mac OSX. PC's are better. You just have to know what you are doing.

Oh and the virus thing. I know people who have gotten viruses on their Mac's. So if someone says it is because of the Bit system or whatever. They are wrong.

i have had a dell dimension since 2001. I recently gave it to my lil sis and she has been using it for 7 months-unfortunately she spends her life on myspace and does her hair weave at the computer(hair is everywhere I never imagined it would cause this situation). It doesnt work now. I turn it on and the dell logo pops up and than a black screen with a blinking cursor and the fan starts to spin at high speed. I cant get into safe mode/cant boot from cd(ie knoppix)/cant get to the cmos. I opened it up and found hair all inside and removed some of it cause the spare can of air that i had was nearly empty. It still doesn't work. Your opinions?

when I play online games on my computer, there is alot of lag. So now I'm thinking about getting a new computer from my internet provider via a promotion on the site. I was wondering if this would be a good build for a computer:

Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz with AMD LIVE!™
Memory 2048 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024 MB)
Hard drive 320 GB 7200 RPM SATA
CD/DVD burner 16X DVD±R / 8X DVD±RW with double layer and LightScribe
Monitor 19-inch LCD Widescreen Compaq WF1907 with integrated speakers
Network card 10/100 Ethernet

Video NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE TurboCache with 128 MB graphics memory
Sound High Definition Audio, 8 speaker configurable
Speakers Integrated into LCD monitor
Operating system Windows® Vista™ Home Premium

So I was wondering if this computer will be good for playing online games with little to no lag. Can you also tell me if this computer is all around good.

Hey guys,
Im running a pretty basic dell and I think its really time for an upgrade. I dont want to buy everything new, So I just want to upgrade a few things.

First off I have 1 Gig RAM
3.4 Ghz Processor
Radeon X300 Graphics card

Now im thinking about buying a GeForce 8800GTS 640MB to replace the X300. Would I simply be able to swap the two cards out and add a 2 Gig DDR Ram without changing anything else? Or would I need to change other things for my computer to even work.
Im really planning on running Crysis and UT3(Medium-high settings at best :P)

Thanks guys, these PC questions are always fun arent they?
