Ran spyware and virus scans and ran disk cleanup which helped a little but how do you clean the registry and is there any other ideas apart from a RAM upgrade that you can suggest?

We have a Dell desktop and recently it had been not working correctly. It runs on windows XP, and recently as soon as we click on a name to sign in, it immediately logs the user off, not even 3 seconds later and without any icons appearing. Does anyone know what is wrong ir has had the same problem? If so, where or how did you fix it?

lately ive been having sme computer problems and i am trying to feel out my options. ive considered buy pre-built(dell, compaq, etc...) and i dont think that would make me happy, as i havent had great luck the last 2 times. so im looking into building from scratch and seeing how that goes. one item of concern im told is the PSU. it should be powerful enogh to power my machine without overpowering it, then im also told you cant overpower it cuz the hardware only takes what it needs. "hardware isnt like goldfish they wont overfeed themselvs to death i think was how i read it. anyhow can anyone link me to a good page on how to know what kind of PSU i need? i want to be able to truly understand what im doing and be able to look at "any" setup and say for absolute certen that "i need this many ** with that many ** and ill buy ** brand name, so ill get this one!!" and be able to do it confidently knowing that i know what im doing. Also any help with building the rest of the machine is welcom

Hi! I have decided to build my own computer. I have no experience with the internal parts, but am very good with the outside parts such as adaptors ect. I also know a little more than the basics. Like what a mother board is and all that stuff. But it gets down to the point where i dont want to buy something and not need it. So what im looking for is to build a computer based on media. I make videos, so its gunna need a lot of RAM. Im looking for about 60gb of hard drive. But i just have no idea how to decide on the mother board and they type of video card. So if you could let me in on this i would really appreciate it. =]
