I am wondering what the general opinion is of whether or not adding more slower ram to my computer will outweight the fact that it is a slower speed. Currently I have 1gb (2 x 512) of PC3200 RAM in my computer. I just got two 512 sticks of PC2700 for free. If I add them in it will make the other RAM run at the slower speed, but with the addition of another gigabyte, that may outweigh the loss of speed. So basically, is one gb of PC 3200 better than 2gb of PC2700? What do you think?

It's an older comp: Pentium 4 w/ HT 2.8ghz, XP Pro, Nvidia X5900XT w/ 256 video card, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 sound card, 320gb hard drive. The motherboard can handle up to 4gb of RAM and does have the two open slots available.

Just a few minutes ago I was shutting down vista. I reached down to turn on the computer but the power button didn't do a thing. No fans, no lights, no hdd's spinning up, nothing. (btw, this is a pc I built myself).

I would assume that this is either a motherboard or a psu issue except for the fact that the little green LED that asus motherboards have that tell you when juice is running through them is on, also the nic has lights flashing (like it always does).

So, basically I'm wondering what you all think I should do. I plan on buying a new psu tomorrow to make sure, but do you all have any other tips?

When my computer is idling(if that is the correct term) it is running around 53 processes and using 400 MB of my RAM. This is causing my computer to be very slow and I don't know what to do.

show but I do not have the taskbar and toolbar. I would appreciate advise on how to overcome this problem. I spent
3 hours on the phone with AT&T support and we could not
correct this condition. They did have me to change the ethernet cable for a USB cable. Thank you.

Hey guys, i am a bit of an idiot when it comes to compyters. I dont want to buy a new one, however, my PC is low on RAM (and i want to play Sims2 which requires 10MB more of RAM then i have) and i also need some more memory.

So if i bought an external hard-drive would it increase my RAM?
