I've been running Vista Home Premium for 10 months on 2 machines with 2 gigs of ram on each one. It runs great on both, no problems. Ultimate will be no different.

PC1 - E6300 1.8 ghz - 2 gigs ram
PC2 - Q6600 2.4 ghz - 2 gigs ram

Also, I have had no problems with Vista. Like it much better then XP now...

For Vista Ultimate, 2 GB is the minimum amount of RAM that you can use to run vista effectively, but if you have the means why don't you just add more RAM so that you will not get frustrated if your pc starts slowing down.

You will notice a slight slowdown in CPU speed, running 3 or 4 apps. Thats really unavoidable, however, there should be nothing exceptional to worry about. The specs you have given, sound ideal for Vista.

Yes that is fine for Vista. If you play a lot of games you might consider a 512MB card rather than 256MB. Nvidia is very good about bringing out new drivers for Vista. You did not mention hard drive, go with SATA as it is faster.

No such thing as an nVidia Radeon.

If you can get XP then you should, Vista is too crap to be worth bothering with for most purposes.

Given what you've said I'm not sure you know enough about computers to build your own.
