There's one very good program I've tried for this:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/getbacknt.html
you can download the trial version to see what files can be recovered, and to recover individual files; to recover multiple files, you'd need to buy it. This program works well.

It's 99% certainly gone.
IF you have done almost nothing and they did not replace the hard drive a program like "recover my files" MIGHT be able to recover them after a format, BUT if ANY DATA had been written to the area of disc those files were on, it's long gone
The Co shoud have advised you before they did this that it would wipe all data. And thereby given you the chance to request the install a new drive and sell you the old one to recover data from.

If you mean you had your computer formatted, all files were erased. Additionally, when software was reinstalled, it may have overwritten sectors which contained some of the information you want. There are companies who attempt to recover data, but it is very expensive - and so far as I know, there is no 100% guarantee.
Here is a list of sites and services that you may want to explore.

I'm afraid it's highly unlikely that the data will still be there, depending on exactly what you've had done to your pc. Always insure that you back up any future data onto CD or DVD, or Mass Storage Device, this way you will not lose valuable files.
[[Hope this helps]]

If the drive was re-formatted before the operating system was re-installed all of you data has almost certainly been destroyed and can not be recovered.
Sorry,

if u just installed os without formating, then u have higher chances of recovering. But u need professional help else u will loose data. u can contact http://www.stellarinfo.com/ & ask them to retrive data, which will cost expensive. don't try to recover urself using softwares.

There are programs that can retrieve deleted files, even on formatted discs but they kind of hit and miss. Sometimes they can find stuff but not always. If you want me to look for one, just contact me.
