The IBM PC was introduced in August, 1981. Prior to that, there were several micro/personal computers introduced in 1977, including the Commodore Pet, the Apple II, and the TRS-80. The popularity of these computers, especially the Apple II, led to the development and introduction of the IBM PC.

The first actual computer was the abacus, invented several thousand years ago in China, and is still used today by many Chinese businesses.
The modern electronic computer was first developed at the beginning of the 20th century.

one of the first computers was made back in ww2 , they made progrmas to deciffer code an break them back then a computer was about a block long an weighed over a ton... lol now look at them as small as a wrist watch

I live in Iowa, and it was first made here, by some guy at Indian Hills, I know for sure it was made in Iowa, but not sure if the guy attended at IHCC (Indian Hills Community College) hope this helps (: Sorry I can't seem to remember his name now. ):
