i removed the plug, but there is still a lot of electricity. nothing is plugged in. i fear this much electricity may damage computer parts.

this has not happened before. now i cannot even touch any part inside, like say to remove a cdrom drive, as i get a mild shock. how do i fix this? like get rid of all the electricity at least before i try to tinker with the parts inside.

please and thank you.

No doubt you've experienced once that screen of blue death where it says checking a disc. It takes forever to end. Well I get this problem EVERY day I start my computer and I can't cancel it because NO MATTER if I push a button it still continues. I have to sit through 1 hour of my computer "checking my drive". I shut my computer down properly and everything. I think I can fix it but I want to know WHY it does that! Does anyone know?

My PC is a dell optiplex GX620, dual Xeon with 3Gb RAM and 1HDD, I want to get the card in the question but do not know if I have enough power for it to work. As it is a Dell it is BTX supply and after a bit of searching, I have found the following

http://www.pcpower.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=S47D&view=techspecs

Will this give me enough power to run the gfx card - if not, does anyone know of any other suitable BTX power supplies that I can use???

Should I buy it?
I would just want it for simple gaming such as counter-strike source and half life 2 and word proccessing. But I would want to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad processor later (the mother board does support it) and get some better ram (say DDR 2 1066mhz or 800mhz) is it a good buy?
Otherwise should I buy a second hand computer for $300 (This is all AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS) that has:
Intel P4 3.2GHZ
DDR 1 RAM 1.25GB
200GB hard drive
7600 GS
15" lcd
mouse & keyboard
Which ones the better buy? I think its the first one because when upgrading I won't have to get a new motherboard to fit DDR 2 ram and a Core 2 Quad proccessor.
What do you guys think?
Help is appreciated
Thanks
Jake

How do I find them back again?

2007-10-09 22:20:42 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous

kept restarting itself for several days, I reinstalled the computer with a pirated XP by using the CD drive to the default C:\partition(20GB). When I found out that it was a new partition and the old inaccessible partition was still there. I reinstalled in the second hard disk (D:\) Then I reduced the size of the F:\ partition(to increase the C partition) with a hard disk management program and have deleted some information in that drive which was originally the (D:\)drive. I then reinstalled with another pirated copy of XP with updates included. I tried going to the Microsoft Download Center to get some software which required the validating process. .. I think Microsoft detected that my pc is an OEM pc and downloaded a Windows Key Update tool. I tried using the OEM Certificate of Authenthicity Product Key number but it didn't tally. The certificate had been there since I bought the computer, from a reputable chain store. It's an iMedia M8220MDRW model. Why isn't the number valid?

I want this for word processing, downloading music and movies and playing games. It is second hand, would it be good for upgrading for that is what i plan to do.

Computer:
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ
1.25 GB DDR 1 RAM
200GB Hard-Drive
Average graphics card (cant remember model)
Monitor:
17"
Keyboard
Mouse

Once i get enough money i want to get a new motherboard, 2gb DDR 2 RAM, Core 2 Quad proccessor, more hard drive, a better monitor and a better graphics card.
Does anyone see any flaws in my plan? Is it worth buying for my first computer?
Thanks

Hey guys, 2 part question.
1- I would like to know what u guys think about an I-mac vs, Windows run desktops. I saw an I-mac recently at best buy and thought the picture was amazing, though the I-mac is a bit expensive. Also I would be using my desktop mostly for Media, chatting, downloading and web surfing so hwich is better in this regard? My friend says he wouldnt buy an I-mac becuase it has trouble running all kinds of programs, is this true?. So can someone tell me the pros and cons of an I-mac vs non I-mac?

2- Also, is it better to buy a desktop from somewhere like best buy or from an Independent computer retailer which I don't know of any in Las Vegas. And how can I find a local PC retailer if it is better?
Thats all, than u guys soo much!

I have an old GO VIDEO DVD recorder and it allows me to record analog 8mm and VHS tapes onto a DVD disk (either DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, or DVD+RW) but my computer doesn't recognize the file when I try to download it. I would like to edit the file with an editing software (I have Nero). Is there some step that I am missing to convert the analog file to a digital file? DVD recorder doesn't allow me to save the file in any format such as MPeg, AVI, WMA, etc. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

It is about 1 year old next month, runs Windows Vista, has 80GB hard drive, 768MB RAM, Intel Celeron D processor. I use the disc defragmenting program about every two weeks and use disc cleanup every 3-4 days. I don't think there are any viruses on it.i had thought about putting in even more RAM and a second hard drive and possibly even a new processor.
Can u think of anything that would make it quicker?
thanx

OK. I am getting another mobo to replace the cut rate Dell 1100 dimension one I have now, as it does not have Pcie slots or a good on board media. I am looking to replace it with this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2849282&CatId=1533 (ECS 945GZT-M) or this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3176993&CatId=1533 (Biostar p4m90-m7). The reason I am doing this is because I would like to use the Celeron D cpu I have on the dell and put it into the other mobo and overclock it (until I can buy a 775 dual core cpu). The grapics unit on the new mobo, while not the greatest are above and beyond the crappy on board graphics I have now. So my plan is to take the hard drive, the memory and the processor from the Dell and transfer it over to the new mobo. Does this sound right and doable? Did I miss anything?
