Do I have to change the thermal grease once seperating the CPU and Heatsink?

It's the same CPU and same Heatsink being used... I bought a new processor from the store and they sent me the wrong socket version. I'd like to have a Computer to use in the mean time.

It's best to clean the surface of the heatsink, and re-apply thermal paste. Thermal paste covers the microscopic imperfections in the surface of the heatsink, and cpu. Fresh thermal paste is cheap insurance. I use a thermal paste with silver in it. You have to be careful when applying, too much can ooze out when the cpu heats up, dripping down on circuits. I would at least, gently twist the heatsink on the cpu, to meld them together again,( while waiting on the new cpu.)

Yep it fairly is definatly thermal grease. the huge-unfold grease utilized should not be any subject in any respect on maximum computers. even nonetheless when you consider which you purchased a clean cpu fan plus heatsink im going to anticipate that your contemporary one the two blew or isnt sturdy adequate. Assuming the latter occurred im going to anticipate you have the main significant computing device. interior the case of the main significant computing device which you should to pass forward and get your self some greater thermal paste. Its tremendously much less high priced for a small tube of it

If it is still clean you can reuse it , make sure there is enough to cover the joining surfaces completely. A little fresh wont hurt and its not very expensive if there is somewhere local to get it .
