Should I buy it?
I would just want it for simple gaming such as counter-strike source and half life 2 and word proccessing. But I would want to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad processor later (the mother board does support it) and get some better ram (say DDR 2 1066mhz or 800mhz) is it a good buy?
Otherwise should I buy a second hand computer for $300 (This is all AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS) that has:
Intel P4 3.2GHZ
DDR 1 RAM 1.25GB
200GB hard drive
7600 GS
15" lcd
mouse & keyboard
Which ones the better buy? I think its the first one because when upgrading I won't have to get a new motherboard to fit DDR 2 ram and a Core 2 Quad proccessor.
What do you guys think?
Help is appreciated
Thanks
Jake

The first one is a pretty decent all purpose machine but lousy on games because of its budget video card. It looks pricey too because it has no monitor. You need to spend perhaps AUD 300 for a decent card and LCD monitor to complete the gaming set up. Of course you have better upgrade options on this one.

The second one is decently priced and can play games better. The 15" LCD is not ideal for gaming and your upgrade options are somewhat limited by the PC's old platform.

With those 2 choices, I'm more inclined to custom build something that will have everything I want, even in stages.

The answer is really up to you, and how much you want to spend, but if the price is not too much, I would go for the first option, because you are right about the upgrade in the older box you describe needing a motherboard replacement. If the newer machine supports the memory and chip already I would go for that option.

go with the first one since it already has the LGA 775 socket board for your C2D. Also, on the second one, it has 7600gs. If it is older, then that is probably the AGP spec 7600. This will make for a tough uprgrade route. The first one probably has the pci-e x16 slot needed for a good card. Go for #1.
