Is there going to be an Intel price drop soon?

I'm hoping to catch a good deal on an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500.

Are there any good deals coming soon from Intel price drops?

I highly doubt it.

AMD's Phenom is a flop from the preliminary benchmarks, which means it's of no real threat to Intels Core 2 chips.

Similar to AMD/ATi's 2900xt series of graphics cards not being able to compete with Nvidia's 8800GTX-series cards.

These companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars on R & D for these chips and will charge as much as they can for as long as they can when there is really no competition.

They said that it was going to be last month when price drop was "spose" to happen. They were also expecting alot more heat from AMD that they are not recieving which is why (if you ask me) the price drop has yet to hit. There has been a slight change 50-60 bucks here and there, but nothing like the 125-175 price drop they were boasting about at first. Guess we will just have to keep an eye out!

How wold anyone except Intel know their upcoming strategy? They are not going to release news of impending price cuts... as it would damage their current sales.

I can confidently say that the only reason the E4500 would drop in price is when there is something better to replace it... at which point demand for the E4500 will drop because people will want the new shiny processor.

There is no announced price drop yet, and contrary to what the first guy said, they always leak info of there future price drops. As for what Izzy said, the benchmarks on the Phenoms are just what he said, PRELIMINARY, meaning it is way too soon to declare it a flop. Rest assured, when it comes out, if it is any type of competition at all to the Core 2s, there will be a price drop.
