i've a new laptop what should i do w/ my desktop now?

okay so i got a new gateway laptop. I have a compaq desktop which i bought brand new from walmart on 2005. The CPU's drive E isn't working, it's infested with virus, it's windows xp is deactivated but the monitor and other hardware are in very good condition. What should i do to it except for donating it to salvation army or some charity. I actually wanna earn something. My friend told me i can trade it at costco or bestbuy? how does that work? thank uuuuuuu!!

You can reformat the drive to get rid of the virus, reload everything and use it as a backup. If you want to donate it wipe the drive first then contact a church group and take tax credit. If you want to sell it, again reformat it, reload the OS and some basic stuff then put up signs in a few stores that allow local advertising for free. Do not try to sell something that does not work right nor something that you left personal info on.

You can sell it. Someone would love a computer like this - good experience for them in cleaning it out, fixing it, etc. Because of the work that is needed (but nothing, it sounds like, that can't be fixed w/elbow grease) you won't get top dollar, but you can ask for 30% of what you paid for it in 2005, and see what offers you get. (One yr old = 50% orig price, 10% less each add'l year, less another 10% for it needing work).

i would reccomend opening it and taking out the ram stick, hardrive, and mother board and selling it. like you can sell your desktop tower for about $30-50 and you video card for a decent price.

greater then in all danger you have a velocity flow 4100 ... so this is advisable to look in to buying a router .. on your computer to get instantaneous connection and likewise have ur computing device computing device with connection to the internet
