I have an old computer that died with an XP professional product key sticker. Well I don't use that computer anymore, so Could I install XP pro on a diffrent computer and use the product key from the old one. It would only be installed on one computer.

Yes you may use it on a new machine.
Since your license is for a single machine, you must make sure it has been removed from the old machine.

Good Luck.

The Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA) that ships with XP Pro-I'm talking about OEM version that was installed and sold with the computer-it sounds like that's what you have if the Certificate of Authenticity is attached to the machine-says this:

"This license may not be shared, transferred to or used concurrently on different computers. The SOFTWARE is licensed with the COMPUTER as a single integrated product and may only be used with the COMPUTER. "

Sorry-you can't transfer an OEM version of XP Pro to any other machine.

Was it a full retail version of Windows XP or preinstalled or OEM? If it is full retail version, then yes you can. If it's not - it is illegal.

I could find a better link before, but this one will do too:

Windows Desktop Operating Systems

Windows Desktop operating systems preinstalled on a PC cannot be transferred or reassigned to another machine. The license is always tied to the original PC on which it was installed, even if the PC is no longer in use.

I doubt the old key would work with a different computer

especially if the old computer was manufactured by a big company, like DELL and such.

Wouldnt hurt to try it though.
