when I play online games on my computer, there is alot of lag. So now I'm thinking about getting a new computer from my internet provider via a promotion on the site. I was wondering if this would be a good build for a computer:

Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz with AMD LIVE!™
Memory 2048 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024 MB)
Hard drive 320 GB 7200 RPM SATA
CD/DVD burner 16X DVD±R / 8X DVD±RW with double layer and LightScribe
Monitor 19-inch LCD Widescreen Compaq WF1907 with integrated speakers
Network card 10/100 Ethernet

Video NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE TurboCache with 128 MB graphics memory
Sound High Definition Audio, 8 speaker configurable
Speakers Integrated into LCD monitor
Operating system Windows® Vista™ Home Premium

So I was wondering if this computer will be good for playing online games with little to no lag. Can you also tell me if this computer is all around good.

That new rig is not really a gaming machine because it uses SLOW integrated graphics that just share memory from system RAM. Real gaming PCs use at least a mainstream graphics card with dedicated memory. You would have to add at least an ATI HD2600 Pro or a Geforce 8600GT to make that PC a gaming machine.

The Processor is the lowest model in the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor line. I personally hate all Compaq products, because of their low reliability and their cheep parts. If you want less lag, get a faster NIC (Network Interface Card), such as a 100/1000 card, but a 10/100 is fine for most gaming needs. I would get headphones, for most speakers that are on monitors are very low quality. The video card is not great. I would recommend at least a 7600GT for gaming, the BFG PCI Express x16 one is only about $100, and is great for budget gaming. Your hard drive seems fine, and so does your RAM and CD/DVD burner.
Windows Vista Home Premium will eat up more memory than Windows XP, and is a bit worse for gaming (in my opinion). However, if you want to play DirectX 10 games, Vista is the only option (or if you want to play games like Supreme Commander or Halo 2 which are only avliable for Vista.) I would not pay over $1200 for this computer (if it is pre-built), or about 800 if you build it. It really comes down to what type of games you play. If you are playing CS 1.6, you will most likely not go under 60fps, but if you want to play Oblivion 4, you might encounter some problems. I don't know about your computer expertises, but if I were to get this computer, I would install some more fans, and over clock the processor to about 2.5. I would say this is an average computer for gaming.

For game purpose the graphic interface:

TurboCache or not, 128MB seems a little bit smaller than needed. Ask for a bigger graphic memory...
Over, this is pretty good built with most of the hardware pretty up-today.

Lag??? 2 problem:
1. ur connection is fast enough???
2. that game sever has not too many people that play in the same time????
3. If u sure 1 &2, decide to buy a new computer, i advice u should better not use Turbo cache technology. Try card 8600 GT ^^
