I've got a soltek Motherboard that's currently running a standard AMD Athlon 1400 CPU. Ive just bought an Athlon XP 2100+ but I cant get it to work. Ive checked all the dip switch settings on the MB, ive updated the BIOS, still no luck. The CPU definitely works as ive tried it in my mates PC. My computer wont even boot up with the 2100+ in!!! When I put the 1400 back in, works fine. Any advice?

When I go to the control panel under phone and modem options it says my modem is not present. The only way to get it back is to delete it then restart the computer and windows recognizes the new hardware and installs it. Does anyone know what the problem is?? I have this problem evertime I try to get online when I start-up my computer. I have windows XP

I have connected my tape player to my pc using the Din socket on the rear of the tape player to the line input socket on my pc.
I downloaded 'Audiograbber as suggested in a recent question, but I am getting a lot of unwanted noise when I try to record. I am not sure if I am using Audiograbber correctly as on playback the volume appears to be very low.
Any advice on noise reduction or on using 'Audiograbber' would be much appreciated. I can be contacted by email using noagenda1234@hotmail.co.uk

I've lookes on ebay for all sorts of motherboards etc. I still cannot find what i'm looking for...I'm not to picky on the brand, though prefer msi, asus, asrock, abit, ecs...I want one that supports 4-5 pci slots, and 1 agp, I don't want that new Pci-E slot, because the cards for that are overpriced I think, because there newer. I wan't this motherboard to be able to support something like 1.8Ghz. or 2.66Ghz. of either Intel P4 or AMD?

Here's what I know:
-I have an on-board sound card with an up-to-date driver
-Device manager says everything is working properly
-It is enabled in BIOS
-Nothing is muted
-My speakers work (tested them with iPod)& they have power -I've tried to connect them to every plug-in, including the headphones

The computer was a gift from someone after mine crashed. It has never had sound. I miss my music. Please help!

Thanks!

I put office 2003 on my home PC recently and it has made my system run real slow. If I uninstall office 2003 will office 2000 still be there and nothing lost? Or if I did a system restore to a couple of day ago would that get rid of it?

I'm running Windows XP with SP2 and a 200MB hard drive. I installed a second 160 MB drive and it will not format beyond 128MB. I have used the Manage feature in Windows to unformat the drive and have used western Digital Data Lifeguard tools to try and reformat but it still will not format to 160 MB. The drive is now shown as "dynamic" (which I don't want) and 128 MB unformatted. Is there a way to remove everything that was put on the drive to get it back to the "raw" state it was in when it left the factory? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have been struggling with this for almost a week.

As much I know both Pentium D and Core 2 Duo are with dual-core and Pentium D is 3 ghz and 2*2 MB of cache and Core 2 Duo comes with 2.1 ghz and 2 MB of cache. So Pentium D is better but others tell me to go for Core 2 Duo as it is latest. Please guide me for the best. Tell meonly from the above two models of procesors.

I just purchased a 500W TT PS and I would like to buy a motherboard/processor. I want an AMD dual core ($$ is an issue), but I don't know what to buy or what to look for when I do. Ideally I would like to have 2 GB of memory and a 256 video card. What should I be looking for and how do I determine what cooling systems I'll need? Any help would be great.
