You will need to take the computer to a technician, as there could be a number of things.

The orange LED means it's in power-save mode. It could mean your power supply went out, or a component on the motherboard has become open (burned out).

Unless you have an ATX powersupply tester, the only real way to figure it out is to have a tech look at it.

There can be many different things wrong with your computer. The fan could of died out. There could of been a short in any one of the circuits. My advice is to take it to a computer shop. If you don't feel like paying money to get it checked. What you can do is open it up yourself. If you smelled something burning, then you should probably be able to find a black spot or a burn mark on the PBC (the circuit board). Or maybe one of the cables burned out. The last possibility that I can think of is that your power cable shorted out. If you find nothing wrong inside of your comp. just go buy a new power chord.

Could be any number of things.

Bad power supply
Bad hard drive or CD or DVD drive
Bad Sound card
Bad Video card
Bad RAM module

the list goes on and on.

Matter of fact I just had a 4 year old Emachines myself do exactly what yours is doing!

Both the power supply and the motherboard had to e replaced. Luckily, I had purchased an extended warranty.

Power supply or Motherboard are bad. If you can open it up and sometimes you might be able to see a black burn mark on the motherboard. Or smell the fan of the power supply next to where you plug it in and if it smells like burnt electronics that's my guess.

If you are referring about the monitor then you just need to buy a new monitor. If you are referring to the PC power then you might want to have a pro look at it. A burning smell is normally not good.

Depending on what the make/model the motherboard is - a lot of motherboard manufacturers had problems with bad capacitors. More than likely, the motherboard will need to be replaced

Sorry but it does not sound good. Take it to a local computer repair place and get an estimate before you buy a new one. Good Luck!!
