The file needs to be converted to DVD format.
Also use the compatable media +/- R for yoy DVD player.

Nero 7 will easily recode the Xvid or DivX file to DVD as will many other burning programs.

Your DVD player needs to be able to read burned cd's. You can check the user manual or on the front of the cd tray it will say something along the lines of DVDRW. If not, then you will not be able to play them in your home DVD player.

you can download movies there, but you will need to encode it in your format NTSC in the US and convert to dvd format for playback on a standard dvd player
nero is the standard for doing this
