I have connected my tape player to my pc using the Din socket on the rear of the tape player to the line input socket on my pc.
I downloaded 'Audiograbber as suggested in a recent question, but I am getting a lot of unwanted noise when I try to record. I am not sure if I am using Audiograbber correctly as on playback the volume appears to be very low.
Any advice on noise reduction or on using 'Audiograbber' would be much appreciated. I can be contacted by email using noagenda1234@hotmail.co.uk

Have you got a headphone socket on the tape player, if so try using that with your line in socket. Then start off quite low on the volume and bring it up gradually till you get a good volume level on the recording. It is probably the fact that the din socket is not giving a pre amplified signal which is causing the problem. If no headphone socket are the speaker sockets Phono. If so try to get a lead, two phono plugs to a stereo jack plug into left and right speaker outputs and line in. Again start with volume low and increase to suit. Good luck.

like the other dude answered, use a phono - minijack cable where possible. just beware tho, the proces of recording an analog source into a pc isn't as simple as people think. it's simple in method but most desktops come with standard ac97 sound interfaces which are known for noise anyway. if using a phono to minijack cable on the rca outputs dosn't get rid of the noise, invest in a cheap sound card or interface for converting analog sound to ur pc. i think terratec have made a simple usb interface precisely for that. it all comes down to pre-amps and analog-to-digital converters when you really want a prisitine recording.
