My husband broke the one that came with my computer. I was curious if I will need to install software when I buy a replacement, because as of now I cannot install anything from a cd-rom. Do you just hook up the new drive and it auto-installs the drivers or what? Thanks for responding. :)

We also had a power cut that morning and then I ended up with 'can't read disk' problems. They seem to have gone today. Wonder if Line Rider or power cut more likely to have caused the problem.

My computer keeps freezing. I press ctrl, alt + del but it doesn't respond so I have to just turn off the power. A while ago I opened an e-mail which had a Trojan Horse. Could this be the reason for it freezing? If not, what could be causing it, and what damage does a Trojan Horse do to a computer?

I have a Compaq desktop computer that has an AMD Athlon 1.2 ghz processor. It is about a 2000 model. I know it's pre HP. I want to know if I can upgrade it to an Athlon 64. How would I know what pin I need? Can I pull the processor out without messing anything up to find what pin it is? Also I have 3 memory slots. If I installed 3 1 gig cards would this be a waste? I am kinda new to this but it seems pretty easy to do aside from the technical aspects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything I try to open comes in slowly, wether it be Internet, or Word Perfect documents. I do not believe my Hard Drive needs to be erased, as I still have 74% free space left. Is there anything that can be done, without erasing the Hard Drive?
