My husband broke the one that came with my computer. I was curious if I will need to install software when I buy a replacement, because as of now I cannot install anything from a cd-rom. Do you just hook up the new drive and it auto-installs the drivers or what? Thanks for responding. :)

Depends. If you have XP then it will detect the new cdrom and install the driver in most cases. Otherwise the cdrom will come with a cd that contains the driver. In any case directions will be in the package of your cdrom. Easy to follow.

Cdrom? You want a dvd drive and a cdrom read/write drive and software to copy. You may even need a new computer. The prices have really come down.

It doesn't need any installing and if it needs a driver it should come in a floppy diskette cause companies are not that stupid you know :) but i'm sure if you're using windows xp or any other version of windows you won't need any drivers and no installing to do..

Good luck
